At the invitation of the Captain and the Ladies’ captain, Willie Thorne has kindly agreed to host this special day.
Snooker player, Seniors World Champion and winner of 14 tournaments worldwide, Willie Thorne was also ranked in the world’s top 16 for more than 10 years and is famously known as ‘Mr Maximum’. Willie is instantly recognisable as a regular BBC TV commentator and has established himself as one of the great characters of the game over the last 26 years. He recently starred in the fifth series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing with professional dance partner Erin Boag.
Format
- Tournament reception opens at midday
- Light lunch served in the clubhouse
- Shotgun start at 2pm
- 3-course sit down dinner to follow golf at 7pm
- Prize giving, auction and evening entertainment
The Course
West Hill is truly one of Surrey’s oldest gems. It is a heathland course lined with towering Scots pines and featuring the brook of Brookwood which meanders its way through the course, coming into play on six different holes. Strategic play is required from every tee and the greens have some of the most challenging natural undulations you will ever play and contribute to the wonderful test of golf at West Hill.
The Competition
- Team Competition: 4-Ball Better Ball Stableford – Best 2 scores to count on each hole
- Handicap Allowance: Full
- Prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd teams along with nearest the pins and straightest drives
- Beat the pro challenge conducted by club professional
The Cost
This is a West Hill GC Members only event. A team costs £300 and includes:
- Lunch on arrival
- 18-Holes of golf comprising of 3 players and a Sparks’ celebrity captain
- 3-course presentation dinner
- Team and Spot prizes
- Prize giving, auction and evening entertainment
