Four Wrexham fathers hop on their bikes for Sparks
Four brave cyclists from Wrexham have taken on a marathon cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats, in aid of Sparks.
Cycling over 1,000 gruelling miles in just 10 days, Richard Williams, Barry Jones, Mike Potts and Lee Gould were inspired to raise funds for Sparks after deciding that they wanted to help make a real difference t
o the lives of local children living with a serious illness or disability.
The intrepid group have been training hard for the last six months and as Richard comments, “This is the toughest physical challenge that I have ever faced. What will keep us going is the thought that we are doing it for such an incredible charity. We are all fathers of healthy children, a blessing we are all very grateful for. This challenge is our way of getting involved and making a difference to the children and their families who are not as lucky”.
In order to boost their fundraising, Richard, Barry and Mike recently had their legs waxed at Bellis Brothers Country Market. Sam Nicklin, from 1st 4 Nails and Beauty in Chester, kindly gave up her day off to make sure their legs were silky smooth and streamlined for their ride.
Nia Williams, Regional Fundraiser for Sparks, says, “The wonderful funds raised by Richard, Barry, Mike and Lee will help us to continue our pioneering medical research and enable us to touch the lives of those children who need our help”.
