Charity of the month

During February 2020...

motorists can help support children with rare and complex conditions by donating all or some of the value of their old car to Sparks through the free service offered by Scrap Car Comparison.

A Scrap Car Comparison spokesperson said: “Sparks does incredible work helping children in the UK, so we are delighted to have them as our charity of the month for February. With the support of our customers, we’re looking forward to helping improve the lives of children with rare and complex conditions through the power of medical research.”

Since 1991, Sparks has funded over £30 million of research into over 80 childhood conditions. These include childhood cancers, epilepsy, spina bifida, Crohn’s disease, Down’s syndrome, Krabbe disease, cerebral palsy and the risks associated with premature birth.

Child health research is severely underfunded – just 5% of what the public and charities spend on research, funds medical research for children. Sparks don’t receive any government funding so are completely dependent on the donations and fundraising efforts of their generous supporters.

With your help, Sparks can fund life-changing treatments that will help children who have rare and complex conditions.

Chris Carter, Head of Partnership Development at Sparks Charity said: “Sparks are delighted to be partnered with Scrap Car Comparison. The partnership will help ensure that we can continue to fund much-needed medical research into rare and complex conditions in children. We wish Scrap Car Comparison the best of luck with their fundraising and extend our thanks to all of their generous customers’’.
