Meet Amanda

Amanda is a dedicated Sparks supporter who inspires everyone here with her amazing fundraising.  Despite being visually impaired, Amanda regularly takes on challenge events for Sparks Charity. So far, she has completed a triathlon and a Spartan Race raising an incredible £2,262,68 for Sparks- funded research! On top of her fantastic fundraising, Amanda volunteers in the Sparks office. She spends lots of her time here talking to other supporters and offering advice.

Amanda sets herself ambitious fundraising targets – and she’s always looking for opportunities to raise more.

Here’s her top tips:

  • A good way of topping up your fundraising is holding a social event which all of your friends and family can come along to – I held a quiz and raised an extra £733!
  • Aim to have a raffle at all events, it’s a great way of raising more! Don’t be afraid to ask local businesses for support – I got loads of great prizes this way!
  • Hold a street collection if you can. This is another easy way of boosting your fundraising. Have something that will grab people’s attention. I had a 5ft teddy bear dressed in a Sparks t-shirt which was a real crowd-pleaser!

Thanks to supporters like Amanda, we can continue to fund vital paediatric research. If you would like to fundraise for Sparks, please take a look at our Fundraising Ideas section.  Our fundraising guide has all the information you need whatever your ideas are.
