Zoe’s London Marathon

Zoe was born three months prematurely. She weighed just 2lb 2oz. As a result, of her early arrival, she has cerebral palsy. This year, she is taking on an incredible physical challenge. Over a few days, she will be walking the London Marathon course to raise money for Sparks.

Zoe will walk up to five miles a day for the first four days. On the final day, she will join the other thousands of runners at the start and will walk the final distance to complete the 26.2 miles, which will take her up to mile 6.2 on the London Marathon course.

Taking part in the London Marathon has always been a dream for Zoe – one she never thought she would be able to fulfil. The dream has become a reality, though, thanks to Alex Wilson and James Davies from Deutsche Bank. Inspired by her story, James and Alex kindly volunteered to support Zoe through her training and by taking part alongside her. ‘To see Zoe tackling the day to day challenges she faces with such grace and determination is incredible but to tackle a marathon, well, it’s utterly inspirational or complete madness!’ Either way, we wouldn’t miss it for the world’ said Alex. To put themselves through the same physical challenge that Zoe will experience, Alex and James will run a full marathon for every day that Zoe is walking!

You can sponsor the team on their JustGiving page. Zoe has also been blogging about her experience and taking on this challenge which you can read here.
