Last year, superstar supporter Andrew Clifton raised over £15,000 for Sparks. He isn’t stopping there though and is taking on his second London Marathon to raise even more vital funds for children’s medical research.
After raising £4,900 for the marathon last year – the highest amount anyone has raised for us for this event – he wanted to do more and decided to pair his passion for football with his desire to continue raising money. Andrew, who works for Dyson, came up with the idea of organising ‘The Dyson Football Marathon’. 45 colleagues agreed to take part in 10 hours of football. The event raised a staggering £10,000.
Taking on the London Marathon again this year, Andrew hopes to raise a further £1000. Whatever he raises will be matched by Dyson.
‘The only motivation I need is to read the stories on the Sparks website of so many amazing children and families who go through so much. Thanks to the wonderful research Sparks does, there is hope for the future, for them and many others. These families make you put your life and issues into perspective.’
