Community Champions Wanted

Would you like to join our team of volunteers to raise awareness of Sparks in your local area?

We are looking for volunteers to raise awareness of Sparks and organise fundraising activities in your local community. Your efforts can help us fund more life-saving research for babies, children and mums-to-be.

What types of volunteers are you looking for?

We want people who are passionate about our work and improving the health of children. If you are enthusiastic, a good communicator and passionate about the community in which you live then this could be the role for you!Waitrose Community Matters Presentation St Albans

How much time do I need to commit?

We have different roles available so no matter how much time you have to give, or what you prefer to do, get in touch with us!

What would I be doing?

Taking the time to raise Sparks’ profile in your community is one of the greatest gifts you can offer the charity. As a small charity your role as a Sparks Community Champion is so important, helping us to reach new areas and make more people aware of the vital work we do. To help with this, you could get involved with as many or just some of the following:

  • Distribute posters about us in your local area
  • Distribute, collect and count Sparks Collection Tins in local businesses
  • Organise fundraising activities and events in your local community
  • Represent Sparks at local events and receive donations on the charity’s behalf, including cheque collections
  • Encourage community groups, local businesses and your networks to fundraise for Sparks
  • Give talks and presentations to engage community groups into benefitting Sparks through their existing fundraising activities

What support will I receive?

We can provide the support, advice and resources needed to help you be successful in your role. You will receive a Welcome Pack to get you started and a dedicated point of contact at Sparks to answer any questions you have. We can help you build knowledge of Sparks and take this into your community to gain support from individuals, community groups and businesses. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference in your community, learn new skills and meet new people.

If you have never embarked on fundraising or awareness-raising before, we can help you and you can build a team around you of friends and family to support your efforts.
