SPARKS financial year ended on 31 Jan 1998, recording a highly successful year from all points of view. We raised £1,380,000 and committed £915,156 to medical projects, quite a rise from £590,000 raised in 1992.

In financial terms the fundraising highlights were:
The London Marathon £100k
The BUPA Great Runs £68k
The Daily Telegraph Fantasy Football and Dinner £70k
The Thresher SPARKS Wine promotion £80k
Golf events combined to raise £350k

In this financial year we established our own Peer Review system for grant applications, giving
SPARKS the opportunity to fund a wider range of ground-breaking medical projects, with the emphasis on clinical application.Plans for ’98 include an awareness-raising campaign, beginning with a cinema and TV commercial, and the opportunity to recruit regular support through our new Friends Scheme. We remain grateful for your continued help, and encourage you to become a SPARKS friend, if you haven’t yet joined up!
