30 run for the 1 child in 30

P1020338A team of 30 runners from various South West businesses ran the Bristol 10k on 31st May, raising over £3000 for Sparks.

The idea was the brainchild of the Sparks South West Committee who, as well as raising money, wanted to highlight the fact that 1 in 30 children born in the UK has a condition that may impact them for life. P1020325The team was formed from friends, family and work colleagues – many of whom were complete novices at running.

The Committee are especially proud of Ross Polkinghorne, who completed the Bristol 10k course wearing the (rather uncomfortable) Sparks star in just over an hour. Ross was well rewarded for his efforts…he was interviewed by BBC Radio Bristol, featured in that evening’s local TV news summary and received lots of encouragement from spectators along the course.
