THE REDGRAVE CHALLENGE
Having achieved five successive Olympic Gold Medals, Sir Steve Redgrave’s focus has turned, for the moment, to golf.
The David Leadbetter Golf Academy (DLGA), SPARKS (SPort Aiding medical Research for KidS) and TaylorMade adidas Golf are challenging Sir Steve to reduce his golf handicap from 17 to single figures… in just ONE year.
The principal focus of this project is to raise money for SPARKS, which Sir Steve has supported for a number of years.
The challenge is the perfect opportunity for supporters to improve their golf and raise money for charity. By supporting Sir Steve in his quest for scores in the 70’s, members of the public can raise funds for SPARKS – while also having the opportunity to take up the ‘Redgrave Challenge’ and improve their own game of golf, whatever their level.
Their are two fundraising options on offer whilst sponsoring Sir Steve. These are as follows:
PLEDGE: by a simple financial donation.
PARTICIPATE: by joining Sir Steve in his golf improvement programme
and signing up to The Redgrave Golf Challenge.

With the support of celebrities such as Sir Steve Redgrave, Lawrence Dallaglio and Paul Daniels, SPARKS benefits from more than 25 celebrity golf days each year.
SPARKS golf days provide the perfect opportunity to meet inspirational celebrities, entertain clients, foster team spirit and play golf at some of the most prestigious courses in the UK, whilst supporting a good cause.
A TYPICAL SPARKS DAY
The day begins with a light breakfast and refreshments followed by team introductions and an optional warm up session. Each team consists of three amateurs and one celebrity captain, playing a four ball better ball format over 18 holes. This is your opportunity to spend a pleasurable few hours in the fresh countryside air pacing the fairways of some of Britain’s premier golf courses accompanied by a favourite sporting or show business celebrity.
After golf, teams and celebrities can retire to the 19th hole to enjoy a well-earned drink, followed by lunch or dinner. The day is rounded off with a prize giving ceremony and celebrity entertainment – leaving many looking forward to the next SPARKS event.
The details for each event are shown on the fixture list page. If you are interested in a round of golf with the stars at one of the UK’s premier golf courses in aid of a good cause, contact [email protected].
