28 February marks the 8th international Rare Disease Day. This day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare disease and their impact on patients’ lives. This year’s theme is on living with a rare disease. See the Official Rare Disease Day 2015 video here.
3.5 million people in the UK are affected by over 6000 rare diseases and 75% of those affected are children. We have created a new 5 year research strategy and have highlighted rare diseases as one of our priority areas to fund research into.
