Sir Geoff Hurst wows the crowd at Remedy Oak

Sparks returned for it’s 7th annual Golf Day at the beautiful Remedy Oak in Dorset. Harry Redknapp, the usual host of the day, was unfortunately unavailable this year due to his work commitments with Derby County in the Championship Play Offs. Sparks were honoured to be joined by Sir Geoff Hurst for the day and he entertained the golfers alongside MC Aaron James (pictured left) in the post-golf entertainment.

The day itself, once again generously sponsored by Astute Electronics ltd, enjoyed sunshine and a course that was in fantastic condition. A number of familiar faces from the sporting world were able to join us for the day including: Clive Tyldesley, Phil Brown, Paul Walsh, Matty Etherington, Tiff Needell & Lawrie Sanchez.

16 teams took to the field with the chance for the winning team to represent England at the upcoming World Corporate Golf Competition in Portugal. There were some fantastic scores but Proflex 2 held off the challenge of Hampshire CC, Astute 5 and Astute 2 to win with 92 stableford points.

The individual competiton was even closer with Bob Thompson and Eddie Doherty tying on 41 points each (Bob was the victor on countback). Current Hampshire cricketer Sean Ervine was the winner in the celebrity prize with 40 points ahead of ex-southampton goalkeeper Paul Jones. You can take a look at all of the scores from the day here.

The was a huge success and raised vital funds for children’s medical research. It all signalled our first open Golf Day of the season. There are many more days over the coming months including Golf Days hosted by Matt Le Tissier, Sir Trevor Brooking and the end of season Sparks Open.
