Pensioners Attempt World Record for Sparks!

A group of pensioners from Hayle in Cornwall are preparing to journey from Lands End to Bristol using their Pensioner Bus Passes to raise money for us!

This sponsored challenge is the brainchild of Clive Polkinghone and has been submitted as a Guinness World Record for furthest distance travelled on a Pensioners Bus Pass. Clive will be joined by wife, Susan, Tony Miller and Susan Pryor. They left on Monday 10 November and hope to end their journey at the inaugural Sparks South West Ball in Bristol on Friday 14 November.

Clive explains,“We want to help Sparks to raise money for much needed research. We have friends who have twin sons with ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) which is a rare and devastating life-limiting genetic condition. Funds are desperately needed for research into this condition with the aim of finding a cure. Any grandparent or oldie can raise money in the future like this for Sparks.”

Helen, Sparks Regional Fundraiser, commented, “We are enormously inspired by Clive and his team’s enthusiasm and energy. We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in the Pensioner Bus Pass Challenge”.

Clive would love to have local help to help Sparks fund medical research to improve the health of children with A-T and other conditions. To support their efforts visit https://www.justgiving.com/A-Night-At-The-Museum/
