Sparks’ South West Committee staged it’s inaugural fundraising event ‘A Night at the Museum’ on Friday 14 November, helping the charity raise more than £17,000 to fund vital children’s medical research.
Held at the stunning Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, the charity ball was sponsored by Lambert Smith Hampton, Equiniti, and Xerox. Long term Sparks supporters Tiff Needell from the world of motor racing and Victor Ubogu former England and Bath Rugby Union prop, joined 200 supporters for an evening of celebration and entertainment.
The Sparks South West Committee was established this year to help Sparks fund pioneering medical research into a range of conditions affecting babies, children and pregnant women.
Mike Jones, Chairman of the South West Committee, said: “Sparks’ work touched my life when my first granddaughter was born in 2013. She suffered oxygen deprivation at birth and very nearly died. That she didn’t was down to the fact that she was able to take part in an innovative ‘combined cooling’ trial funded by Sparks. She is now healthy and happy, and brings great joy to our family.
The trial is a world class research project to try and protect the brain from damage after being starved of oxygen. It is only one of 45 projects funded by Sparks across the UK. Everyone on the South West Committee is determined to do all we can to support this vitally important work.”
Sparks CEO, Zillah, said: “We are very grateful to the South West Committee for organising this fantastic event. We look forward to seeing the South West becoming an increasingly significant part of Sparks’ mission to improve children’s health, transforming children’s lives for generations to come.”
